my dearest reader,
here is the second track from my long lost EP, “curls of smoke” (2014). the song is entitled “hilltop”.
the house i grew up in sat at the end of hilltop lane. as the street name suggests it was atop of a hill; that hill that overlooked hundreds of acres of metropark, and beyond that the mighty maumee (river)—my brother and I, along with our best “neighborhood” friend, explored it all. with the passing of years i’ve only become more aware just as to how special this place was, and how significantly this landscape and my feral upbringing shaped me.
i wrote this song amidst my first bout of nostalgia for hilltop lane and the white farm house whose walls held me for 18 years.
