wow that was a little scary, setting up a substack (i am basically a luddite) and than setting some true-heartfelt-writing out into the ether. thank you(!) thank you(!), from the bottom of my creaky little heart, for subscribing. it’s nice to be doing scary things with my art again. those of you paying to subscribe, i can’t thank you enough for the creative space you’re allowing me.

this is medicine for me. i’m reminded right now as i read elizabeth gilbert’s “big magic”, that writing and making music are first and foremost for the writer and music maker. this being something i used to practice by, but ever since my entry into corporate music land (the business, you could say) i’ve been given messages that my music must become for the masses—that i must meld myself into some palatable, branded, single-use plastic of an artist.
